2005年3月，我在新加坡实里基艺术中心举办了首次个人摄影作品展。感谢新加坡摄影学会对展出和讲座的支持。影展为期三周，当地的一些媒体包括《联合早报》也报导了这次展出，并选登了部分作品。影展前后我在新加坡呆了一个多月，下面这些图片主要是这一个多月在新加坡走来走去的记录。

In March 2005, my first solo photographic exhibition was held at the Selegie Arts Centre. I would like to thank Singapore Photographic Society for their support on the exhibition and talks. The exhibition lasted for 3 weeks, it was covered by local media including Lianhe Zaobao. I spent about a month in Singapore before and after the exhibition. The following images are records of one month walk around in Singapore.

拍摄烟花最重要的是要找一个醒目的前景，要不然世界各地哪里的烟花都一个样子。在新加坡没有什么比作为国家象征的鱼尾狮更好的前景了。快门速度可设为4、6、10秒或者更长，这样一张照片就能记录更多烟花，但你可能需要用镜头盖或一张黑纸遮挡一下鱼尾狮，它实在太亮了。佳能1ds mark II 数码单反机身，B门, 3.9秒, F7.1, ISO100, EF28-135IS镜头 @ 28mm, 三脚架，快门线，手动对焦到无限远。

It is important to have an identifiable foreground, otherwise firework shots would be the same everywhere in the world. In Singapore case, there is no object better than the symbolic Merlion. You can set exposure time to 4，6 or even 10 seconds to have more fireworks exposed in a single frame, but you may need to off and on cover the lens with lens cap or black paper to prevent over exposure, especially the Merlion area, which is way too bright. Camera settings: Canon 1ds Mark II, Bulb, 3.9seconds, F7.1, ISO100, EF28-135IS lens @ 28mm, tripod, cable release. Manual focus to infinity. Photo ID: SIN0015.

大牌335B组屋24楼上的风景。2005年1月。古老的红色殖民地时代的房子和现代化的摩天大楼交相辉映。拍摄时间正是农历新年之前，人们抢着来这里购买年货。佳能PRO1数码相机最大广角只有28MM，不够广，此图是我拍了两张回家在电脑里拼接的。以下四张图片都是在相同的地点拍摄的。

为拍摄新加坡河畔CBD中央商业区夜景我多次路过这个很有特色的弧形地下通道。每次走在这里我总有一种时光隧道的感觉。2005年1月的时候这个通道里贴满了艺术家波特罗的展出海报。2006年初我再次来到这里，展出海报已经撤了，不过我又发现了一个好玩的：一块罚款0元的牌子。新加坡是一个好国家也是一个罚款之国，用英文说来就是一句话：Singapore is a fine country. 这里的fine作好与罚款双解。人行地下通道严禁单车骑行，违者罚款。但是，究竟是罚款几千我一下拿不准，因为千位数被人蹭掉了。走到通道的另外一端我才找到答案。1000新加坡元相当于600美元，这罚款真的很吓人。

Singapore is a fine country. I had been here many times while shooting the Singapore riverside CBD area. The tunnel has a feeling of time machine. In Jan 2005, it was full of Botero's exhibition ads. When I was back a year later, the posters were gone but there was an interesting sign. $0 fine for cycling in the tunnel ? The answer was found at the other end of the tunnel: S$1,000, that's about USD600. Scary, isn't?

我用 SIGMA 17-35大广角镜头（@20毫米焦距) 加强视觉冲击力。One Raffles Quay 是一座在建的大厦，工地大门的保安不让我进。我想尽办法绕到后门，捡到一顶破安全帽，挤进建筑工人队伍里混了上去。来到46楼一看，本来就恐高的我吓得直哆嗦，因为45楼以上的外墙玻璃都还没安装，四周只用一道绳索拦着。请注意图片右下角的地面和螺丝 – 这离自杀只有一步之遥。高楼的风特别大，拍的时候又飘起了小雨，镜头都淋湿了。不说了，现在想起来还腿软。不过这冒险还是值得的，图片看起来像是在飞机上拍摄的，我站在那里有点类似911纽约那飞行员的感觉。

Standing on the edge of the 46th floor (un-obscured, see the right bottom of the picture) , One Raffles Place, an office tower in-construction. The securities just did not allow me to go in. I spent 2 hours scouting around and finally got through. It was raining and the wind was blowing hard, that was really a scary suicidal experience. You wouldn't be able to see this picture if i took one step forward. Lucky me. Sigma 17-35mm lens @ 20mm. Canon 1ds Mark II camera on tripod. Dec 28, 2005.

杰门办公大楼，楼高37层，是新加坡的标志性办公楼之一，贝聿铭设计。这是一个很好的拍摄对象，但是我和大楼的保安差点打了起来，他们甚至不准我在建筑的四周拍摄。不过最后他们还是没干过我。此图为证。2006年元月，佳能1ds mark II照相机，EF28-135IS 镜头。

大牌335B组屋跳蚤市场卖旧照片的老人。我第一次遇见他是在2001年。4年后当我重回此地，惊讶的发现这位老人还在这里（见左图）。他和他那些铺天盖地的旧照片对我来说就像一架通向上个世纪50和60年代的时间机器，很多人那时候都曾经辉煌。

我1997年来到新加坡，N年来一直觉得这是一个非常有秩序的社会，任何时间任何地点任何事情，只要有三个以上的人大家都会自动开始排队。但2005年12月24日晚乌节路狂欢圣诞的人群之疯让我大开眼界。不到两公里的乌节路挤了好几万人，认识不认识的人都用气罐一顿狂喷（婚礼用的那种）。眨眼人群大乱，眼看有人要被冲倒，险些发生踩踏。警察也不少，我从来没见过新加坡路面上有过这么多的警察。不过，面对这样密集拥挤的人潮警察是无能为力的，只能干瞪眼。路边垃圾成堆。这在新加坡是极其罕见的。垃圾大多是兜售喷雾罐和荧光棒的人留下的，也有路人乱扔的。整个乌节路地面都是湿滑的- 并没有下雨，可见喷雾之多。要很小心走才不会摔倒。这场面让我想起了中国春运的各大城市火车站。比这架势还厉害的在我印象里就只有1989年5月的中国了。身边一辆婴儿车差点被挤翻，我帮助素不相识的那对年轻父母拼命的顶住人潮护住婴儿车，躲进了路旁。一行五个大人三个小孩，看这架势也不敢再往前挤，怕出意外。我们从旁边的小路逃了出去，绕了好大一圈才到了停车场。上车坐定，长出一口气。这时候远远的听见了乌节路上的狂喊声浪 – 午夜12点整了。X年前的这个时候，耶稣诞生了。
